What To Expect On Your First Visit to Days Road Dental

At your first visit to Days Road Dental, we’ll follow a process we’ve developed to ensure we understand your dental needs and that you’re familiar with your treatment options.

Your New Patient Exam: What to Expect

  1. Meet our treatment coordinator: This member of our care team works on-site and can help you choose the right treatment and way to cover the costs of treatment. Specifically, you’ll review your insurance information and your dental and medical history, as well as your own personal goals for dental care.
  2. Meet your registered dental hygienist: We’ll take x-rays (only those necessary) to assess your teeth and facial bones and measure gum tissue to assess the overall health of your mouth.
  3. Meet your dentist: The dentist conducts a full dental exam and screening for oral cancer, taking into account all the information gathered beforehand by the hygienist. Then, once you’re out of the chair, the dentist will discuss all the results and provide you with treatment options personalized to your needs.

The new patient exam takes about an hour and a half to complete.

What Should You Bring to Your First Visit?

To make your first visit as smooth as possible, here are a few things to make sure you bring:

  • a list of your current medications
  • information about your dental insurance coverage
  • contact information for past dentist

Your Child’s First Visit to the Dentist

At Days Road Dental, we believe that children should see a dentist by the age of one.

This is in accordance with the recommendations of the Canadian Dental Association. Following this guideline ensures that every child has a “dental home” and that your child has positive dental experiences from a young age.

At the first checkup, our team will perform a simple examination of your child’s teeth and gums. Of course your child will be too small for our chair, so the dentist will use a “knee-to-knee” technique to keep your child safe and relatively still during this simple exam.

As well, this is an opportunity for you to ask any questions about oral care for babies and young children, general nutrition, and whatever else might be on your mind.
